1988 Fender Squier Strat

White Finish

Thanks again to Steve Blucher at DiMarzio for the pickup layout. The Squier has a “Steve’s Special” humbucker in the bridge position which splits when combined with the True Velvet single coil in the middle, and an Area 67 in the neck position.

Additional specs and modifications:

  • Rosewood fingerboard
  • Alder body
  • Single volume and single tone control layout
  • Gotoh tuning machines
  • Blocked off tremolo
  • Graph Tech Ferra-Glide saddles
  • Refretted by Gary Brawer with a 12″ – 14″ compound radius

I found this guitar in a pawn shop in San Rafael for 100 bucks. It was in rough shape but when I gave it a strum, it was loud, vibrant, and sounded great unplugged, so I knew it was worth fixing up.

San Francisco guitar repair master Gary Brawer refretted it and reshaped the fingerboard into a 12″ – 14″ compound radius. He also added a bone nut and suggested the Ferra Glide saddles, which are great. Once I found the right pickup combination, it became a really great Strat. I tend to use it for the heavier Rock stuff. It also sports a HipShot D-Tuner.
