2008 Suhr Pro Series S4

Root Beer Stain

This Suhr PS-4 has the volume control relocated closer to the bridge pickup for quick adjustments while playing. The pickup layout is similar to the DiMarzio setup on the Fender Strat Plus, only with Area 61 singles rather than the 67′s.

Additional specs and modifications:

  • 1-piece maple neck
  • Basswood body
  • Flamed maple top
  • Gotoh 510 bridge with steel block and solid saddles
  • Neck Shape: Even C Slim (.800 – .880)
  • Custom parchment pickguard
  • 10″ – 14″ compound radius

Having owned some real nice small-builder guitars (by Suhr & Tom Anderson) I was excited to stumble on this Pro Series Model. The playability, tone, and attention to detail are stunning. For a new, straight-from-the-factory guitar, these are almost impossible to beat. Besides installing the pickups I’m used to and moving the volume control a bit, it is stock and pretty much a flawless instrument.

I often get complimented for the guitar tone on “Signor Max”, a Latin-flavored tune from my Fear Itself CD. That song is played entirely on this guitar.
